The Benefit Of Lived Experience
When it comes to our mental health, the science is far from definitive.
We rely on facts, data, and research to guide us. And for good reason—science has changed the world. But how do we account for and guide people into their own internal understanding and personal truth?
In moments of deep reflection, we realize that some answers aren't found in textbooks. They come from our inner experience, intuition, and connection to something greater.
I’m not saying facts don’t matter. They do. But sometimes the most profound truths are felt, not proven.
Could it be that we’ve placed too much faith in what can be quantified, and not enough in what we sense and feel?
I don’t know the answer. But I do think it’s worth considering.
I think it starts by understanding how we unlearn what's kept us from trusting ourselves and teach our children how to explore this type of self knowledge, while we lean on the science to fill in the gaps, not the other way around.
